5-star crash test rating for Kia Sorenta
Korean manufacturer Kia has achieved an ANCAP 5-star crash test rating for the latest Sorenta model available on the Australian market.
The Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) has awarded the latest version of the Kia Sorento the maximum 5-star crash test rating after the car had undergone successful physical crash tests as well as advanced safety feature assessments.
Applying to all variants of the Sorento, the ANCAP 5-star rating was based on an assessment to the latest requirements of ANCAP, which change annually to reflect the latest advances in vehicle safety technology. With its top safety classification, the Kia Sorento provides safety conscious Australian and New Zealand consumers with another option in this category of vehicle.
Commenting on the choices available to the local market, ANCAP’s Nicholas Clarke said, “Consumers should continue to look for cars which have been awarded the maximum 5 star ANCAP safety rating. In addition, ANCAP also publishes the Rating Year for each car its rates. This important reference indicates the standards against which a vehicle has been assessed. These requirements continually increase thereby encouraging manufacturers to provide consumers with safer cars. ANCAP has been raising this bar annually since 2011.”
In the occupant and pedestrian safety tests, the Kia Sorento scored well in the frontal offset, side impact, pole, pedestrian protection and whiplash tests.
The model was also praised for its high levels of advanced safety equipment, which includes electronic stability control (ESC), emergency brake assist (EBA), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), head-protecting side ait bags for 1st & 2nd row seats, seat belt reminders for 1st & 2nd row seats and reversing collision avoidance.
