Conference on fuel tanker safety to take place in December

The Freight Transport Association is running a conference on fuel tanker operation and safety during December.

Run once every two years, the FTA’s Fuel Tanker Conference is a popular event in the haulage industry for those interested in the transport of fuel on UK roads and the latest information on regulations and certification for the use of road tankers.

Chaired by the Freight Transport Association’s head of engineering, Andy Mair, the conference will also feature speakers from such important UK authorities and professional bodies as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Department for Transport (DfT), the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the UK Petroleum Industry Association.

Aimed at fleet managers and vehicle engineers and designers, the conference will provide delegates with best practice advice for the safe and compliant operation of their vehicles as well as providing insight into the future of regulations and enforcement.

Tanker approvals will be covered in a specific session as part of the conference as well as inspection and certification, the 2014 re-launch of the safe loading pass scheme and testing against the Europeand Agreement for the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods (ADR) requirements and related enforcement activities.

Commenting on the conference, Andy Mair said that it’s a good opportunity for those in the industry to get the information they need to be able to plan for future developments in this highly specialised segment of the road transport industry.

The Conference will take place on Tuesday, 2nd December 2014 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham and will cost £325+VAT for FTA Members and £385+VAT for non-members with discounts available for multiple delegates.
