Houston School Buses To Be Fitted With Exterior Surveillance Cameras

Texas city of Houston Improves Safety On School Buses With the Addition Of Exterior Surveillance Cameras To Its Fleet.

Nearly 1000 school buses in the large city of Houston in Texas are already equipped with in internal dome camera as well as a mobile DVR (Digital Video Recorder) from Safety Vision, the contents of which can be scanned when necessary when the bus returns to base or if an incident occurs that requires evidence or investigation.

Safety Vision External School Bus CameraThese interior cameras record the main occupancy area of the bus as well as the doors and the driver’s view, providing a comprehensive picture of activities which take place in the buses.

Now, the city has decided to extend the surveillance capability to the exterior of the bus as well with the addition of exterior safety cameras supplied by Safety Vision. 400 of the buses have already been equipped with the camera during this summer and the remaining units will be attached at the start of the academic year this autumn.

The Houston Independent School District is one of the largest school bus operators in the Unitied States and has been recognised for its continuous efforts on ensuring the safety and security of its staff and the pupils it transports.
