Multi-camera network video recorder for transport applications
A network video recorder has been made available for bus and haulage fleets with 12 IP camera inputs for vehicle based surveillance.
The RoadRecorder 7000 NVR (Network Video Recorder) has been designed specifically for transport applications being easily mountable in a vehicle and combining the robustness of solid state memory for on-the-move recording with the capacity of Hard Disk Drive recording for transferring video material for long-term reliable storage of video footage.
The NVR support a maximum of twelve IP cameras with faceplate mounted connections for Cat 5 cabling which support power-over-ethernet making vehicle installation easy. IP cameras with megapixel resolution are a step beyond the older analogue style cameras offering high image quality and requiring fewer cameras for full vehicle coverage including passenger area or load bay, driver and the exterior of the vehicle.
Redundancy is built into the device with proprietary SafeStor Technology comprising a combination of 1 terabyte hard drives and solid state memory devices. The data from large quantities of IP cameras as well as audio data are automatically transferred to removable hard drives when the vehicle is parked up so that it can be stored remotely and securely as part of a fleet management data retention policy.
Real-time video streaming back to fleet managers is also possible using a built-in 3G modem and mobile antennae. Such live remote access can be beneficial for vehicle tracking and can be combined with other functions such as GPS location and positioning as well as geofencing.
Justin Lindbloom of Safety Vision said that the new NVR is an ideal tool for passenger, driver and freight security, protecting the fleet operator from criminal activities including assault, criminal damage and theft.
