Partnership works on radar based gesture control

Google and Harman are working together on in-vehicle audio systems including Project Soli for precise and intuitive gesture control.

Harman and Google in-car audio collaborationThe combined high technology expertise of both Harman and Google will yield the modular audio systems of the car of the future with the companies’ extended collaboration set to include modules for Google’s new modular mobile device, Ara, which will give Android users complete choices over the features they want and need.

ATAP, the Advanced Technology and Projects Group of Google will also work with Harman on Project Soli, which is a radar based touchless control system enabling intuitive gesture control. The Soli sensor can track sub-millimeter motions at high speed and accuracy to enable precise and effortless hand gestures.

Commenting on the collaboration with long-term partner, Google, Harman Lifestyle Audio president, Michael Mauser said, ““Consumers now understand they don’t have to sacrifice sound for portability, and Ara will give them premium

audio and the functions they want on the go. We look forward to collaborating with Google on other innovations incorporating smart audio in the future.”
