Tour Bus Company Expands GreenRoad Use Globally

Big Bus Tours is now using driver performance and safety management technology from GreenRoad in its sightseeing operations worldwide.

After reducing incident rates on its fleet of 70 buses in London to one in every 21000 kilometres, Big Bus Tours is using the advantages gained by using real time driver performance and safety management in the United Arab Emirates and San Francisco. It will then further deploy the GreenRoad system to China and other US cities.

Drivers at the tour bus company gain instant feedback from LED dashboard lights so they can adjust their driving regime as they’re working and improve their performance with the company providing incentives to drivers through safety performance reward programmes.

Gerry Price of Big Bus Tours stated that speed is generally not an issue since tour buses need to operate slowly to allow their passengers to enjoy the sightseeing experience that they pay for. However, passenger comfort is of considerable importance and driver behaviour has a significant impact on customer satisfaction.

Besides the improved customer experience, the tour bus operator also sees financial savings through reduced incidents on the road, improved fuel consumption and reduced wear and tear on the vehicle.

GreenRoad’s John Dimmer commented that Big Bus Tours operates in territories which are not covered by GreenRoad but the company is nonetheless deploying the system outside of supported territories based on its experience in London and the UAE.
